Grilled Pork Kabobs and a whole lot more

Last night for dinner I grilled Pork Tenderloin Kabobs (marinated in Olive Oil, Cavendars, Pepper, Crushed Red Pepper). For sides I made Black Beans and grilled veggies (Red Pepper, Yellow Pepper, Vidalia Onion, Zucchini) with Olive Oil, seasoned salt and pepper.

I highly recommend Cavendars to anybody looking for a subtle yet flavorful seasoning for meats and veggies. It complements but certainly does not overwhelm the meat.

Little Hills WInery

Perhaps not the best wine in the world (okay, definitely not the best wine in the world) is served at The Little Hills Winery in St. Charles, MO. This place is a REMARKABLE place to eat, drink some wine, smoke a cigar and spend time with friends and family.

Last night for dinner Erin and I split a Brie Cheese Plate and Chicken Nachos. We also had a bottle of Traminette. We have been going here for years despite horrific service because their food is better than average and it really is one of the best places to hang out on one of the many enjoyable summer evenings in St. Charles. Last night the company was great, the food was great and the service was decent. A great night indeed.

Later in the night after many more drinks and a Perdomo La Tradicion at Sasha's Wine Bar I had leftover Spicy Chicken Chipotle Pasta from The Cheesecake Factory (see Saturday's post).

The Cheesecake Factory

Widipedia defines gluttony as the following: Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered one of the seven deadly sins—a misplaced desire of food or its withholding from the needy.[1]

If we agree upon its definition, I will see you at Church. Wow...simply disgusting.

Last night for dinner I had lots of the following from The Cheesecake Factory in Chesterfield, MO.: Seven grain bread, sourdough bread,
Spicy Chicken Chipotle Pasta and last, but most CERTAINLY not least, the Kahlua Cocoa Chocolate Cheesecake. My god, it was ridiculously good. I am not a paid spokesman for TCF, but you pretty much should drop what you're doing now and go try that cheesecake.

I washed that yummy mess down with El
Diablo (tequila, cointreau, grapefruit and pomegranate juices) and a glass of Shiraz. Coffee with the cheesecake...of course.

If anyone can top that for last night's dinner...I'd love to hear about it.

Yen Ching

Last night for dinner I revisited an old favorite...Yen Ching. They have a meal there called Spicy Crispy Beef, and I must say, it is delicious. For dessert, my gracious hosts offered a slice of Amish Friendship Bread washed down with a few cups of Seattle's Best Breakfast Blend.

I ask, does it get much better?

Leftover night

Last night for dinner it was lunch leftovers from Erin's mom's work. She works at a medical office and the doctors have structured their practice so that in order for a pharma rep to get facetime with a physician, the pharma rep has to provide breakfast or lunch for the staff. That means...lots of leftovers!

Last night I had a Bellacino's philly steak sandwich, watermelon and for dessert it was a Northstar Chocolate Covered Cherry Nugget. I would highly recommend Bellacino's to anyone who has not yet discovered that place...their fantastic.

Hip Hop and Wraps

Bad title...I know. Last night for dinner Erin made grilled chicken wraps with spinach leaves, tomato, orange pepper, grilled onions, shredded cheese, and ranch dressing. The wrap itself was a Chipotle Pepper wrap. I must say, it was an incredible wrap. I finished up the meal with some tomato and orange pepper doused in balsamic vinegar with salt and pepper, sprinkled with feta cheese.

It was yummy. Washed down with a new favorite of mine, Vitamin Water.

BBQ season officially started

BBQ season is here, officially. My brother Dave got busy for about 2 hours on the grill yesterday to feed a big group of family and friends. Chicken, brats, burgers, beans, potato salad, cake, and beer...lots of beer. So, what did I choose out of all of these options?

I went with Johnsonville Spicy Bratwursts smothered in Sticky Fingers Hot Habanero Sauce, Baked Beans, my mom's world famous potato salad, grilled veggies (peppers, zucchini, onion) and half a burger. I washed that down with a few Coronas, a few Guiness Extra Stouts and a first time choice for me, New Belgium's Skinny Dip. After which I had half a piece of chocolate cake.

Luckily, I ran in the morning and only put on 5 pounds last night.

I AM BACK!!!!!!

To all my loyal fans and those few others who are looking to expand their appreciation of that which is good, my meal diary continues. So, where better would it be to start back in than to start with what I enjoy most, chicken wings.

Last night for dinner I had chicken wings and a Buffalo Chicken Salad (Erin and I couldn't decide between wings/salad; wings/pizza; pizza/salad; pizza/wings...there are tough decisions in life, I know. Anyway, my sister and her husband are in town from San Diego and we did the family dinner thing at a local restaurant called Malones. I'll be nice and say their food sucked, b/c it was worse than that last night. Wings were not crispy, they were fatty, cold, sauce was a 3 out of 10. The salad was fine, but, iceberg lettuce, fried chicken doused in wing sauce, bleu cheese dressing, an shredded cheddar is hard to screw up.

The good news is I am back and look forward to many shared experiences with you of life's simplest pleasure, dinner. Last Night's Supper-May 15th, 2007

Another truly amazing dinner in keeping the hot streak alive. My wife and I dined at McCormick and Schmick's in Kansas City last night. I had the Massachusett's Bay Sea Scallops over three cheese and garlic cream risotto accompanied with a Beauzeaux and a Pinot Grigio...AMAZINGLY GOOD!!!! But, it didn't stop there. After dinner we strolled around the Plaza while I smoked a Fuente Fuente Opus X until we stumbled upon the M&S Grill (owned by the same parent company of McCormick and Schmick's). A glass of Tawny Port, a Mangojito and a Key Lime Martini (for my wife) finished the night...truly, a memorable evening in Kansas City.

Last Night's Supper-May 14th, 2007

Last night's fare included bbq brisket, baked beans and a loaded baked potato. However, because I ate that around 4:30, a reinforcement snack was called in around 10 last night: Asian Lettuce wraps from Wilikers washed down with a glass of Hess Select Cabernet Sauvignon and two Guinness Beers. Decadence, I tell you, decadence.

Last Night's Supper-May 12th

Last night was truly something special. My wife and I, amidst moving most of our belongings into storage, did what, we felt, our duty was: order pizza. Naturally, we went with Domino's and ordered a large pizza. My better half's half consisted of jalapenos and pineapple, my half was covered in jalapenos, bacon and onion. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I'd rank last night's dominos about a 9.5...simply delicious.

Last Night's Supper-May 11, 2007

Oh boy...where to start. My wife's last day at her company was today and she brought the going away party "home in a box;" not to be confused with this. Anyhow, we fattened ourselves up with some Chicken Pad Thai from Thip's (pronounced THHHHHHHHHIPS) and some double frosted cherry donuts from Schnucks. It was glutenous. Anyhow, props to her co-workers for the delicous trans fat.

Dinner for Thursday, May 11th, 2007

Last night for dinner we cooked up some of St. Louis, MO's finest frozen pizza, Mama Lucia's Meat Lover's Pizza. Orginally intended for a "bachelor's dinner" when my wife was traveling, this pizza was loaded with pepperoni, italian sausage and bacon. Like a true champ, she dove in and ate almost half the pizza with me. Washed down with, yet again, another Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat with Lemon. Added plus...frozen snack size Snicker's Crunchers.
